God damn it.Let's talk about how Sinister is probably one of the scariest horror movies of all time. I personally don't get scared by horror movies often, I recently just went and rewatched the conjuring 1 and 2, so when I heard about Sinister and how about 78% of people say that it's one of the scariest horror movies ever made, I had to watch it. This isn't the scariest movie I've ever seen, but my scaiest scary movie experience. I was watching 'The exorcism of Emily Rose' with friends in a cinema. I was unnerved enough 'cause it's not terrible and it's all big and loud in theatres, when I needed the bathroom. For reference, me and my friends thought we were the only people in the cinema.

Not to mention at that time there was an media alien craze: X-Files, Fox TV had alien autopsy show and Unsolved Mysteries had supposedly real alien encounter stories. With all this alien media combined, it left me fearing aliens for a good 10-15 years of my life. But damn Fire in the Sky was the scariest movie I ever watched.

Veronica, a spanish horror film about possession/hauntings after a ouija session goes wrong. Aterrados, argentinian horror film with some creepy visuals and unsettling scenes. Both of them have deeply unsettling visuals and scenes accompained by good scores that make them all the more tense. Some horror movies I will watch multiple times like The Exorcist, Halloween, The Shining and Night of the Living Dead.Eraserhead is definitely the most unsettling film I've ever seen, so maybe it's also the scariest. I can't think of one horror movie that scared me as much as it should've, whether it's the classics like the Exorcist or newer stuff like Conjuring (I found them hilarious, actually). 4. OhBJuanKenobi • 6 yr. ago. However, I'm somewhat apprehensive since I'm not very tough when it comes to horror movies, and Hereditary is of course supposed to be unbelievably scary. I've only watched a few other supernatural horrors; The Conjuring 1 & 2, IT, The Wailing, The Shining and The Haunting of Hill House. IT, The Conjuring 2, The Shining and The Wailing didn't ...

This shows how individual the concept of "scary" is. Personally, I found The Strangers almost comically un-scary. I always think of the shot where the masked girl is swinging nonchalantly on the swingset as the ultimate in silly attempts to use stereotypical "creepy" imagery to manipulate the audience. I'm not a fan of hyperbole in trailers unless it's done tongue and cheek, but when they rereleased Alien in theaters in the early 2000s, I was in college I know, the trailer said something like "presented for the first time in high definition, the scariest movie ever made" and then the word Alien slowly started glowing onscreen and I thought "yeah.Imo Se7en is the scariest movie ever because it could happen and it takes a seriously fucked up dude to do what he did.
