This isn't the scariest movie I've ever seen, but my scaiest scary movie experience. I was watching 'The exorcism of Emily Rose' with friends in a cinema. I was unnerved enough 'cause it's not terrible and it's all big and loud in theatres, when I needed the bathroom. For reference, me and my friends thought we were the only people in the cinema.

Not to mention at that time there was an media alien craze: X-Files, Fox TV had alien autopsy show and Unsolved Mysteries had supposedly real alien encounter stories. With all this alien media combined, it left me fearing aliens for a good 10-15 years of my life. But damn Fire in the Sky was the scariest movie I ever watched.

I've seen a lot of horror movies and have become a bit desensitized, so every time someone claims a movie to be the scariest movie ever, I give it a watch to see if I can understand why. I could not with Hereditary. It's not a bad film, but I can't understand why this is scarier than films like The Conjuring or Insidious to the main populace.
