Friede's scythe only really shine in 2 situations: PVE against multiple mobs (deacon fight is a joke with this weapon, you can kill them faster than they can spawn) and PVP/darkspirits. The Great Scythe might be the best weapon in DS1, and Friede’s Scythe is one of my favorite weapons in DS3. They are some of the best crowd control weapons, especially on dex builds. But I agree that they need better critical animations (even the DeS Remake couldn’t get that right). Scythes should just be rare.

For the life of me I cant seem to be able to fight Friedes scythe in pvp. Im a noob when it comes to pvp since I rarly ever did it in the previous games. It's the only scythe in the game that doesn't have a damage penalty if the blade misses but the shaft hits. It's also one of the few weapons to have innate frost damage, that doesn't require weapon art activation. It's a great PvP weapon but only in the case that someone hasn't got the poise, or the ability to parry the L1 weapon art.
