Doing so prevents you from saving a certain someone. The reason it's paragon in the game is because Maelon's research methods were brutal and resulted in a bunch of dead krogans and everyone and they were quite bad. You destroy it because it's 'tainted data' based on the methods used to obtain it.No. The only way to save Mordin is to destroy the genophage data in ME2 with Wreav in charge of the Krogan. You can't save both Mordin and Wrex. If Wrex is leading the Krogan, there is no way to peacefully convince Mordin to allow the sabotaged genophage cure to disperse.

Mass Effect™ Legendary Edition. Curing genophage is a mistake. So, the other day I was defending renegade Shepards action, and I made an argument against curing the genophage. @SabuChan28 This is the easiest way to play this: right after curing the genophage you are summoned back to the citadel to find out that Cerberus is attacking it. This starts Act 2 of the game and this is the best way to do all the DLC in this section of the game. I know your curious of when to do omega, but the rest of the dlc is important …This specific implementation of the genophage caused drastic changes in krogan society, reducing their fertile females to objects and causing a sense of fatalism and disillusionment. A genophage that worked as the original codex claims it does would be an acceptable solution - I am arguing only against the genophage as it exists in Mass Effect 3. Mordin very explicitly explains in Mass Effect 2 that their population is completely sustainable at genophage level birth rates. The Krogan are dying because the genophage has left them feeling powerless over their own fates, creating a culture of fear, selfishness, and desperation. Playing around with a decimal point will not change this. If you cure the genophage Wrex and Eve will need to somehow feed 1 trillion mouths almost immediately after the reaper war. For reference in Mass Effect Earth is considered overpopulated and crowded with 11 billion. The Krogan birthrate is unsutainable, that’s a fact. (Though I have no doubt it will be hand-waved away in ME4)

Maelon is a name that comes up during Mordin Solus' loyalty mission in Mass Effect 2. He was the scientist's former student and was working on a cure for the genophage for a Krogan mercenary group called Blood Pack. When Commander Shepard and Mordin discover Maelon was killing test subjects to find a cure under his own free will.

In 3, as you are trying to cure it, with cure literally staring them in the face, they are ready to tear each other apart. Right there and then, yes Eve can calm things down for time being, but during the lead up to the cure, Wrex is leveraging Turian extinction, and help for a supposed close friend, the exact reason he wants to unify the clans ...

While curing the geonphage could help develop an alliance between the Systems Alliance and the Krogan, sabotaging the cure may permanently damage Human-Krogan relations. Thus, long term considerations also favor a cure. So, overall and with the stated reasons, I favor a cure for the genophage. 2. level 1.Prevention is better than a cure because it literally prevents the discomfort and costs of becoming sick or experiencing a similar preventable event. Maintaining a bioweapon that causes infertility and has extremely negative consequences for that species culture is pretty horrible. Looking at things logically though, the Genophage is probably necessary. The genophage ain't killing them. Their self destructive culture is. Curing the genophage is a terrible idea as long as they continue to carry on as they do currently. Now if their culture turned around and they were more civilized then a cure would have some merit.

If Wreav is alive and genophage is sabotaged: Urdnot Wreav - 25. Clan Urdnot - 300. Salarian First Fleet - 150. 475 War Assets. I believe (iirc) you get Krogan Clans no matter what; it's just the Urdnot related assets that you lose if Wrex is leader and you sabotage the genophage.

As a piece of fiction the actions you take should have a knock on effect later on. Curing the genophage and having Wrex and Eve direct the future should absolutely lead to a future where a Krogan rebellion doesn’t happen, that doesn’t mean a faction can’t cause trouble, but the Krogan shouldn’t continue as they had.
