Imperial Legionary. This is the best line infantry the Imperials have to offer. They are high armor troops with a big shield and a one-handed sword. If you are using a shield wall strategy, you’d be wise to take a lot of these guys along with you. There is no more defensively useful unit in the game.

But for wars I keep it simple, I’ll have half my army infantry in the middle in a shield wall (asarai veterans, legionnaire, or sturgian spear/axemen) then 1/4 noble heavy cav a good distance away on the left, then 1/4 khans guards same distance away on the right.

They've got the largest shields of any heavy infantry, some of the strongest armor, and are brutal in close combat - plus they always seem to hit more often with their javelins than legionaries do.

Best horse archer: Both khuzait and aserai horse archers are good but the best horse archers are the khuzait khans guard which are noble units.
