So I mostly slay without a cannon (and in the catacombs which doesn't allow cannons) and for money. I use a cannon on things like suqah and kalphite (in the slayer cave cause I'm not high enough lvl to do queen or anything). I'm actually only 74 slayer but for the sake of the question just pretend I can kill whatever.
