Hey so I'm working on getting my dad a copy of this album for Christmas, specifically mono, and I noticed that the The Complete Masters edition released in Europe is the only one in mono that isn't super expensive and or hard to find.I think the mono mix of Rubber Soul is the way to go for that album, even though "Michelle" sounds pretty lousy. The original stereo mix has some balance issues regarding the volume of the instruments relative to the voices, plus the awkward panning. Some aspects of the originals are great that the remasters dont have due to the effort to extract more detail in the new versions, and then again, FOR ME, the new World Wide Live benefits with the extra detail and have to say Love At First Sting sounds very nice as well as Blackout on the new anniv remasters..I've never had a problem with a CD beyond repackaging (i.e., jewel case vs. digipak, etc. or slipcases not being included). Sure many times the royalities are smaller BUT they are usually released after retail (at least the ones that you can get inexpensively and they tend to focus on catalog releases much more so which is fine by me.
