You'll find at least 1 summoning bonus gear so really level 7 and possibly level 6 if you're lucky. A well build summoner is maybe the strongest earlygame class.
I also playing on Switch but I use 2 Larian mod together Nine Live, and Pet Power it probably one of them that gave the skillbook instead of auto assign skill. Just to confirm, with Larian Mods Pet Power and 9 lives i got a skillbook to learn summon cat that a single character can learn. Yes I'm confused by this.
